TEACHER/NATURALIST
1 Position Available
Responsibilities include:
Serving as an instructor on our education staff teaching a wide variety of natural resources-related subjects in forestry, wildlife, soils, and aquatics to students grade 4 to senior citizens;
Working with teachers to develop program schedules, develop new programs and write curriculum;
Teach a variety of outdoor skills such as canoeing, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, orienteering, and team building;
Coordinate special adult weekend groups;
Write articles for our newspaper, Northbound; and
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in the field of natural resources, natural resources education, or related field.
- Desire to teach.
- Ability to work well with people.
- Good organizational skills.
- Self-motivated.
- Ability to earn a CDL (for driving bus) within six months of employment.

SUMMER OUTREACH NATURALIST
2 Positions Available for the Summer of 2009
Dates of employment: May 30 (or sooner if available) - August 21, 2009.
Trees For Tomorrow is seeking a highly motivated individuals to fill two temporary intern positions. The Summer Outreach Naturalists will provide quality natural resources and outdoor education programs to the public at area resorts, campgrounds, and on Trees For Tomorrow's beautiful campus. Must effectively work well with people of all ages in a variety of settings, and represent Trees For Tomorrow in a professional manner.
Responsibilities include:
Participate in training at the beginning of summer and throughout the season.
Create and implement new nature programs for people of all ages.
Visit each site assigned once or twice a week to conduct a naturalist program on varying topics.
Create simple posters advertising the following week’s program for each site to post and/or distribute to guests.
Maintain organized records for each site on relevant program information.
Plan and complete a general intern project to be completed prior to the position ending.
Assist Trees For Tomorrow professional naturalists with programming for summer groups.
Requirements:
Minimum of junior status in a natural resources field such as, but not limited to, environmental education, outdoor education, biology, and parks and recreations management.
Previous programming experience with children, families, and/or adults.
Valid driver’s license.
Excellent communication skills with a variety of audiences and in a variety of situations including hikes, campfires, interactive lectures, active events, and slide presentations.
High motivation, organization and ability to work independently.
Basic computer skills.
Ability to work outside in varying weather conditions.
Salary: $850 per month plus room and board.

SEASONAL NATURALIST
4 Positions Available for the 2009-2010 School Year
Dates of employment: August 23, 2009- May 28, 2010
Trees For Tomorrow is seeking highly motivated individuals who would like to gain experience teaching people of all ages about the wise use and proper management of natural resources. Our seasonal naturalists are career development positions which let you experience first hand whether teaching about and being in the outdoors is for you. You will work side-by-side with professional foresters and naturalists. You will also meet a variety of professionals in natural resource fields that we rely on for expert advice and assistance.
Responsibilities include:
Participate in training at the beginning of school year and throughout employment term.
Teaching a variety of educational natural resource activities to diverse audiences, both inside and outside.
Develop at least one educational curriculum activity, interpretive guide, educational exhibit or other teaching aid for permanent use at Trees For Tomorrow.
Keep a daily log of your experiences and development.
Write for Northbound, a biannual news magazine, about natural resource issues published by Trees For Tomorrow.

by professional naturalists
Learning about the natural history and resource management techniques of Wisconsin's Northwoods.
Gaining computer and audio-visual skills.
Touring other Wisconsin environmental centers to gain ideas for programs, projects and future employment.
Networking with resource professionals from the U.S. Forest Service, WI Department of Natural Resources, and a variety of forest product industries, to gain a perspective on natural resource careers.
Additional learning opportunities through off-site educational workshops, in-house special programs and staff enrichment sessions.

Requirements:
Minimum of junior status in college in a natural resources field such as, but not limited to, environmental education, natural resources, outdoor education, biology, and other natural sciences. Recent graduates preferred.
A willingness to learn!
Cross-country ski experience is a plus, but much can be learned at Trees For Tomorrow.
High motivation to learn and teach about natural resources, coupled with good people skills, are the real keys.
Valid driver’s license.
High motivation, organization and ability to work independently.

Ability to work outside in varying weather conditions.
First Aid/CPR valid through entire term of employment.
